Why Android N is Nougat not Nutella
What is Nougat: Nougat is a part of a family of confections that are made with roasted nuts, sugar, honey, and usually chopped, candied fruit. It’s particularly popular in India, the birthplace of Google CEO Sundar Pichai. Here in the U.S., it’s typically one of the ingredients in a larger candy bar like Snickers.
Why not Nutella: We all know how Google worked out a deal with Kit Kat several years ago, so maybe they weren’t in the mood to have to license another snack food for an Android version name, but really Twitteratti have got a better reason for this:

Why Google names it Android after sweets
There have been many discussions on the internet about this, and it turns out that Google is not very predictable about its naming convention. About three years ago, when Google launched Kitkat, it released this statement that sheds a little more light on the naming convention: “Android is the operating system that powers over 1 billion smartphones and tablets. Since these devices make our lives so sweet, each Android version is named after a dessert: Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, and Jelly Bean. As everybody finds it difficult to stay away from chocolate we decided to name the next version of Android after one of our favorite chocolate treats, Kitkat.” Google names its Android versions after what it calls “sweet treats.”
